The building blocks of creating and growing a Data Governance team is as easy as A,B,C ... or is it? Data Governance is filled with a myriad of terminology, definitions, and challenges. In this presentation, we will break down how Lincoln Financial Group has built and grown our Data Governance team by focusing on the basics, the building blocks, and remembering our ABCs.
This case study will break down our journey and emphasize the foundational ABCs of DG, such as:

Antoinette Cashwell, MPM, has over 8 years of experience with Lincoln Financial Group, specializing in project management, training, content development, and data analysis, and 6 years of experience in Data Governance. She uses her creativity and drive to support Lincoln’s mission of ensuring that the highest quality data is delivered via data governance strategy for the purpose of improving efficiency, increasing profitability, and lowering the risk of the business units they serve.
Lynn Mulligan, MBA, ALMI, ACS, CSM – Lynn’s focus on collaboration combined with her passion for accurate data and process efficiencies have helped the business understand the value and positive impacts of Data Governance and data as a strategic asset. Lynn’s background in working in the business for the first half of her 14-year career with LFG, prior to joining the Data Governance team, provides her with an understanding and connection to business strategies and the importance of having a good network of stakeholders to advocate for data needs at all levels of the organization.
Robyn Black, ALMI, ACS, has 10 years of experience with Lincoln Financial Group, with 3 years on the Data Governance Team. Her primary focus is metric alignment, where her goal is to drive a common understanding of terms used broadly across Lincoln’s group life insurance business. Robyn uses her interpersonal communication skills to build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders in documenting definitions/calculations of key data and reporting metrics.
