T3: Making Data Governance Stick

All Levels

Data governance is a frustrating job. You are constantly up against every possible barrier you know and some that you haven't met yet. You make yourself hoarse talking, begging, pleading - but you still cannot get moving forward. Even when you take one step forward, you find yourself taking two backward. You have to fight for everything - from sponsorship to money to resources to tools - and justify your existence daily.

Your successes are hardly celebrated, but your failures are well-advertised. Is it hardly surprising that data governance efforts fail again and again and again.

This workshop will "hopefully" provide you with knowledge, tools, tips, and tricks that you can take back to your office and re-energize your data governance effort.

We will work together in groups throughout the workshop to build you a plan of action for success (and we will have fun during the day):

  • Identify and discuss the issues
  • Address how to resolve these issues
  • Proactively work to create your own toolkit for success
  • Create mechanisms to give you confidence
  • Work on plans to persuade your stakeholders of the power and value that data has

Sue is the proverbial “dataholic” and it shows. Being able to assist organizations, both large and small, to not just understand their data and why it is so imperative to manage it but to work out their best route to achieving this is the reason she says she gets up and “goes to work” each day. Whether she needs to dive into the weeds with the data analysts and quality auditors to look at their data or talk to the C-level team about their data challenges and successes, she enjoys each and every part of this growing professional industry. Sue says, “Every time I “talk data” I believe that I open the eyes of at least one person to exactly why I am so passionate about what I do – that person takes this knowledge back to their organization and does exactly the same – sparks the passion in the next person.”
