This workshop lies at the confluence of three important observations:
This tutorial explores how to create an organizational culture that promotes the improvement of data quality. It explores the data creator and data customer roles in some detail. Finally, it discusses the role of data professionals in helping everyone (both data professionals and business people) become good data customers and creators. In particular, it exposes the sheer fun and empowerment so many people find in attacking data quality this way. The data community continues to struggle in connecting with the business community, so this tutorial will be loaded with practical tips and discussion on making needed connections.
Tom Redman, “the Data Doc,” helps companies attack data issues head-on. Everything, from AI to better decisions and smooth operations depends on high-quality data. His approaches aim to empower people and get the basics right. His work can be found in Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, and in his latest book, People and Data: Uniting to Transform Your Organization (Kogan Page, 2023).
